The Oxo Alliance is working with commercial leaders and key government officials to create an industry standard, accepted by the Federal Trade Commission, to help retailers differentiate between quality oxo products and inferior ones. The standard seal of the Oxo-Biodegradable Plastic Alliance will allow buyers of oxo products to visibly see whether a product claiming to be oxo is in fact a legitimate oxo product. Companies who make false environmental claims will not be able to pass the strict Oxo Standard criteria and therefore not be eligible to receive the standard seal. OXO was founded in 1990 with the introduction of 15 OXO Good Grips kitchen tools. It has since grown to over 850 products, including cooking, storage, cleaning, office and organization tools.
OXO recently introduced a line of baby and toddler products as well. Each was developed based on the concept of Universal Design (also known as Inclusive Design), a philosophy of making products that are usable by as many people as possible. A portfolio of tools that are easily and comfortably usable by a large spectrum of people, including those with dexterity limitations, translates into a large target market for the company's products. Wonder if Mustafa was scrubbing a lot of broiler pans or something to make that brush wear out so badly. It’s great that OXO replaced it without a fuss.
